NAS Autism Accreditation – Beacon Award

Grange Park has been accredited by the National Autistic Society for many years. For school leaders and governors, this robust assessment and monitoring underpins everything we do to meet the needs of our pupils.  The school was awarded Advanced Status in 2020, an award demonstrating our position as a centre of excellence in supporting autistic individuals.

Autism Accreditation Beacon Award

In September 2025, Grange Park were awarded the National Autistic Society Beacon Status. This is the highest level of recognition the NAS offers, and it reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in autism education and support.

The Beacon Award is presented to only a small number of schools across the UK who demonstrate exceptional, evidence-based practice in supporting autistic pupils, their families, and the wider community. We are incredibly proud to now be counted among this distinguished group.

In their feedback, the NAS commended several key aspects of our provision, including:

• Our strong belief in valuing parents and carers as experts through lived experience, supported by robust communication methods such as daily contact books, termly newsletters, and inclusive social events, ensuring families are always informed and involved.
• A comprehensive and person-centred transition process for new pupils, including collaborative meetings with families and key staff, and the early integration of the SCERTS framework.
• The work of our multidisciplinary therapy team, offering bespoke, neuroaffirmative support tailored to each child’s unique needs from the very start of their journey with us.
• Our commitment as a Gold Rights Respecting School, where children and parents are empowered with knowledge of their rights and how these are embedded throughout school life.
• Broad and inclusive training programmes for families, such as NAS Teen Life, and our mindful use of visual supports, ensuring accessibility, especially for autistic parents.
• An ethos of autistic acceptance and celebration, helping children to build a positive autistic identity and share that with confidence and pride.

The NAS also highlighted our outreach work—sharing exemplary practice with other schools, professionals, and the wider Kent community. From hosting trainee teachers and therapists to leading local training initiatives, Grange Park School is playing a vital role in shaping autism education across the region.
